Mount Abu being the only hill station of the desert scrape of Rajasthan, enjoys a pleasant weather throughout the year.

Climate

The temperature in summers ranges between 23.3 degree Celsius to 33.3 degree Celsius while in winters it falls between 11.6 degree Celsius to 28.3 degree Celsius. Though the weather is mild, still carry warm clothes.

Mount Abu experiences moderate rainfall.

Plan a vacation to this place either in the months of February to June or in the months of September to December.

How to Reach?

The nearest airport is Udaipur which is 185 kilometers away. The nearest railway station is Abu Road which is 28 kilometers away. Well connected roads link Mount Abu with all the major cities of India.

Fairs and Festivals

The summer festival is held every year in May on the occasion of Budh Poornima. It is organized by the Rajasthan Tourism, Municipal Board, Mt.Abu & District Administration.. Various competitions that are organized add excitement to the celebrations.

The three day long winter festival is held every year in the last week of December. It celebrates the warmth of the people in this exotic hill station. Celebrations are followed by dazzling fire works.

Hotels and Accomodation

Hotels in Mount Abu are a perfect combination of traditional hospitality and modern amenities.

Hotel Hilltone and Hotel Hillock offer a luxurious stay.

Some heritage hotels to be mentioned are Hotel Palanpur Palace, Cama Rajputana Club Resort, Hotel Rising Sun Retreat.

Restaurants

Although the city has no specialty of its own, yet, all the specialties of the state are served here. Handi Restaurant and Mayur Restaurant are the famous ones.

Places to Visit

Nakki Lake is the prime attraction for the holiday makers. It is believed to be dug by God with his nails.

Dilwara Jain Temple is a superfine model of the Jain architecture in India. The temple is just 5 kilometers away from the town. It is a marvel in white marble.

Gaumukh Temple and the sunset point are major places to see.

Shopping

You will not see any big bazaars in Mount Abu. Nakki Maal near Nakki Lake is where you can find souvenirs to take back home. Marble, sandalwood, sandstone items, leather ware and gemstones are available at affordable prices here.

For purchasing superb handicrafts, visit the Rajasthan Government Handicrafts Center. If this is not enough, shop at Khadi bazaar as well.

People and Culture

The population of the city is approximately 30,000 people. Popularly spoken languages are Hindi, English, Gujarati and Rajasthani. The culture of the place is in no way different from the rest of the state. The small and the peaceful hill station is equally active and vibrant.
