Shree Nath Ji Nathdwara

Nathdwara Temple

Shree Nathji Nathdwara is the place of worship was built in 17th century. People say that it was constructed at a place recommended by the Lord himself. Its literal meaning is 'the gateway to the Lord'. According to a popular belief the image of the Lord Krishna was carefully taken from Vrindavan to some safe place to protect it from the rage of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The bullock cart carrying the image of the lord when passing through this place got stuck in the mud and even after trying very hard did not move. The accompanying priest realized that God has himself selected this place and then a temple was built there. It attracts a lot of devotees during "Janamashtmi", the day of Lord's birth and Holi, the festival of color.
