Kumbhalgarh Fort

Kumabhalgarh Fort

Kumbhalgarh fort is one of the most popular forts of Rajasthan and is located in Rajasmand district of Udaipur. It was built by Maharana Rana Kumbha in the 15th century and no ruler could ever conquer this grand fort. It is bordered by thirteen mountain peaks which must have been the reason for it to never get conquered. The length of the fort is notable, which is 36 km and is also the reason for its international fame. You must not miss the sight of this second longest wall in the world, the first being 'the Great Wall of China'.The fort is dotted with several palaces, temples and gardens adding to its popularity. Huge watch towers can be an ideal place to get an overview of the surroundings. The temple devoted to Lord Shiva is still visited by the locals for gathering good fortune. The palace inside the fort is known as 'Badal Mahal'(cloud palace)because it gives the feeling of strolling in the clouds. It is also a palace where great ruler Maharana Pratap was born. The interior of the palace is remarkable.
