Nathmal Ji Ki Haveli

Nathmal Ji Ki Haveli is an excellent piece of architecture located in the heart of Jaisalmer. The style of architecture of this haveli is different from other styles used in Jaisalmer and the credit goes to two brothers Hathi and Lulu. It was built in the 19th century.It was once the residence of Diwan Mohata Nathmal, the then Prime Minister of Jaisalmer. The irregular shape(which makes it unique in its own way) of the haveli has an interesting story attached to it. According to people the architects decided to simultaneously build different apartments of the haveli and could not keep a continuity track(as no instruments were available for keeping the track)which resulted in geometrical irregularity in the structure. And this imbalance proved to be a feather in its cap.Other notable things are the two marble elephants place at the entrance. It looks as if they are for your welcome.The pillars,walls and ceilings are decorated with intricately carved images.
