Gadsisar Lake

Gadsisar Lake is one of the famous lakes in Jaisalmer. Once you are done with the palaces and fort, its time to spend some time treating your eyes with a beautiful lake, Gadsisar Lake. It is a water conservation tank constructed in 1400 A.D. by Maharwal Gadsi Singh, the then maharaja of Jaisalmer. This site was chosen for building up a tank because it automatically retained some of the rainwater. During the winters a wide variety of beautiful migratory birds can been seen in their temporary home, Gadsisar Lake. Several temples surround the lake adding to its attraction. Remember to carry your binoculars if you do not want to miss bird sighting.
