This palace is named as Hawa Mahal because its walls are pierced with a large number of windows. This palace of wind was built in pink sandstone by poet king Sawai Pratap Singh . It was especially constructed for queens and princesses. They used to peep through the windows of this palace to see the processions of the city. They made sure they were not visible to people. This is one of the most famous destinations of Rajasthan. It has 953 windows which overlook bustling bazaar streets. The windows are called 'Jharokhas'. It is the well acclaimed piece of architecture by Rajputs. It also has a small museum.
