Camel Research Farm

Camel,the ship of the desert is synonymous with Rajasthan. Camel Research Center in Bikaner is one of its kind in (only one in Asia) serving as the breeding ground for camels. It is located in Jorbeer. Do not forget to spare some time for these indispensable part of Rajasthan. Their young ones really look very sweet with their eyes reflecting child-like purity. Have you ever tasted camel's milk? Here is your chance. Get acquainted with first hand knowledge about camel such as an average adult camel has the capacity to cover more than 100 km at 15 miles per hour without stopping for rest. Quite Interesting! The farm covers an area of 2000 acres (semi arid land) and is under the supervision of the Central Government. It was established by Indian Council of Agricultural Research in 1984 and is sponsored by State Government. The motive behind the establishment was to achieve a rise in commercial viability of breeding camels, mainly for the local people. The camels here are on sale in the cattle fairs. They are decorated beautifully before taking them to the fairs.
