Language

Rajasthani is the most popular language of state. It has four dialects – Marwari, Jaipuri, Malwi and Mewati. Hindi, the official language, is replacing Rajasthani. English speaking people can be easily found in major cities and even rural areas. Other languages are not known to the inhabitants. Music & Dance

The old and undisturbed tradition of Rajasthan lends richness in Rajasthani music. Each region is distinguished by a dialect of music and dance of its own. Some folk dances, the Ghoomar dance of Udaipur and Kalbeliya dance of Jaisalmer, have been recognized worldwide.

Folk music is a significant part of the culture of Rajasthan. Folk songs are tell tales of the legendary battles of Rajputs. Songs are sung in memories of the heroic deeds and love stories. Devotional songs usually followed by musical instruments such as dholak, sarangi, sitar, etc., complete the religious celebrations.


Religion

 

Hinduism is the principal religion of Rajasthan followed by Jainism and Islam. Some of the significant local heroes and deities are Pabuji, Gogaji, Ramdeoji, Harbhuji Mehaji and Tejaji.


Art and Architecture

Traditional and colourful art of Rajasthan is far famed. The Block Prints, Bagaru prints, Sanganer prints, Tie and Dye prints, Zari embroidery are the main export products from Rajasthan. Handicraft items such as carpets,wooden furniture, blue potteries are eye-catching for the tourists.

The architectural style of Rajasthan's forts, havelis and temples reflect the richness of its bygone era. Some of the prime tourist attractions include Jantar Mantar, Jaisalmer Havelis, Dilwara Temples, Lake Palace Hotel, City Palaces.

Fairs and Festivals form an inseparable part of Rajathan Culture. The colourful fairs and festivals of Rajasthan turn the barren land into a vibrant desert. Rajasthan celebrates every religious occasion, every harvest and every change of season.
