Amber Fort, Jaipur

 

Amber Fort reflects the intricate architecture of the artisans of yesteryears that bowl over even the most seasoned traveler. Well cladded elephant joyride to the fort makes the visit a fascinating experience.


About The Fort

Amber Fort JaipurAmber Fort, also known as Amer Fort, attracts travelers from around the globe. It is situated 11 kilometres from Jaipur. The Amber Fort was constructed by Raja Man Singh in marble and red sandstone. Built in 16th century, the fort reminds of the intricate architectural skills of the yesteryear artisans. Maotha lake as its foreground adds to the existing charm of the building. The appearance of the crystal mirror image of the fort on the still waters of the lake is just incomparable.


Inside The Fort

The outer appearance of the monument is rough and worn out. On the contrary, the interiors of the fort are beautifully done up. It lends a warm ambiance that one least expects on seeing the exterior of the fort. Both the Hindu and the Muslim style of architecture reflects from the decoration of the fort. The walls are decorated with beautiful paintings that picture the real nature of the Rajputs, who were revolutionary, self-indulgent and adventurous.


The visitors are completely bowled over by the wonderful carvings that enhance the walls and the ceiling of the fort. The royal appearance of the halls seems to be even more grand through the minute mirror work. The expansive walls of the fort safeguard it from the invasion of the enemies. The artistic quality of the delicate and fine work done on the fort does not fail to captivate any visitor.


The fort houses a Kali Temple (Shila Devi Temple) which is far famed for its glorious history, massive silver lions and silver doors. Diwan-I-Aam (The Hall of Public Audiences) was built by Mirza Raja Jai Singh. The pavilion with double row of columns is a perfect example of intricate craftsmanship of the bygone era. Yet another feature of the fort is Ganesh Pol. This imposing gateway endorses the typical Rajasthani motifs. Jai Mandir (The Hall of Victory) has a impressive ceiling decorated with mirror work. Several other halls and pavilions are present in the fort.


Elephant Ride

The royal elephant ride is the most amazing part of this hilltop fort. The beautifully clothed elephants enable a tourist to admire the flawless beauty of the monument. This joyride makes the visit to the Amber Fort a a fascinating experience which one cannot afford to miss.
