LOCATION : Pushkar, Ajmer

TIME OF THE YEAR : Hindu month of Karlik (October- November)

SIGNIFICANCE : Largest camel fair organized in India


The Pushkar fair, held in the holy town of Pushkar, brings alive the bygone tradition of Rajasthan, enhancing the glory of the golden sand. The extraordinarily original and very own rural charm of the fair makes it a great crowd puller.


People from foreign and India come here to witness the pulsating cultural heritage of state. Breaking all obstacles of their busy schedule, local crowd comes here and make merry. Colourful sights of not only the brightly dressed men and women but the bedecked camel and cattle at the world's largest camel fair leave you fascinated. Pilgrims throng the lake for a holy dip on the day of Kartik Purnima and surrender themselves at the only Brahma Temple in India. The population swells during the Pushkar fair.


Cultural shows, movies, camel races at the fair enliven the event. Ethnic shopping items from all over Rajasthan such as woolen blankets from Merta, textiles printed in Ajmer, bead necklaces of Nagaur, brassware of Jodhpur and Jaipur, displayed here add to the attraction.


Come November and experience a rare blend of religious fervour and cultural vivacity in the Pushkar Mela.
