How to Reach?

Jodhpur,175 kilometers and Jaisalmer, 112 kilometers are the nearby airports. Pokhran is the closest railway station. It takes approximately two and a half hour to drive from Jodhpur and one hour from Jaisalmer.

Fairs and Festivals:

The flashy and showy Ramdeora Fair in Pokhran is organized twice every year, in August and February. As you wander about, you will see a series of display of mirrored Rajasthani embroidery and traditional arts and crafts along with some sweet and spicy snacks.

The Pokhran fort has presently been converted into a hotel. Despite the bleak look, the hotel provides for an accommodation that suits every taste and pocket. Places to Visit:

The Pokhran fort was built in yellow sandstone by the Marwar Thakur Rao Maldeo about four centuries ago. Though not as grand as orher forts in Rajasthan, it has a small temple dedicated to the goddess Durga.

Inside the premises of the fort is housed a museum, popularly known as the Pokhran Museum that displays an assortment of armoury, miniature paintings, pottery and costumes which the Maharajas of the bygone era wore. Games played by the royal families during leisure time are also displayed here.

Some exquisitely built palaces in the fort are Phool Mahal, Rani Mahal, Mangal Niwas and Hawa Mahal.

Shopping :

Pokhran is far famed for its furniture and interior crafts.
