Khimsar

 

Khimsar FortThis small village is a part of the Nagaur district. It offers an insight into the rural life of desert.


Climate :

Khimsar experiences extreme climate. During the summer months, the temperature rises to a maximum of 42.2 degree Celsius. It lies between 27.5 degree Celsius and 9.5 degree Celsius during winters.

October to march is the best time to visit this place.


How to Reach ?

The nearest airport from Khimsar is Jodhpur, approximately 92 kilometers away. The nearest railhead also lies in Jodhpur. A regular network of buses connects Khimsar with nearby places.


Fairs and Festivals :

The Nagaur Cattle Fair, held approximately 40 kilometers away from Khimsar, draws a number of tourists to this place each year in the month of January and February. The holiday makers enjoy the camel races and other cultural events to their fullest. The folk music echoes across the desert sand.

The accommodation option in Khimsar include Hotel Khimsar Fort and Khimsar Sand Dune Resort. These hotels are equipped with all the modern amenities.

Places to Visit :

Khimsar Fort, built in the sixteenth century, is the major tourist attraction of Khimsar. It was then a military structure that has now been transformed into a heritage hotel.

Then, there is the Sacchiyamata Temple in Osian, about 27 kilometers off Khimsar. Despite the fact that it is not in a great state, it is a must visit.


Shopping :

Being a small village, Khimsar does not offer a vast shopping experience. You can look for souvenirs and other specialties in Jodhpur, which is just 92 kilometers away.


People and Culture :

Rajasthani, Hindi and English are the popularly spoken languages. The culture in Luni, expectedly a Rajput bastion, is in no way different from the rest of the state. The dance forms here are quite popular throughout the country. The tourists are warmth treated to the customs of the village.
